Magna-Power Expands SLx Series 1U Programmable DC Power Supply to 3000 Vdc at 10 kW
Magna-Power Electronics, a leading manufacturer of programmable DC power supplies and electronic loads, has expanded its SLx Series with new high voltage models rated at 2000 Vdc, 2500 Vdc, and 3000 Vdc. Available at six power levels from 1.5 kW to 10 kW, the new models deliver up to 3000 Vdc and 10 kW from a standard 1U rack-mount enclosure measuring 1.75" x 19" x 24", with fully floating outputs for maximum application flexibility.
The expansion builds on the SLx Series platform introduced in 2023 and extends the product line well beyond the 1000 Vdc ceiling of the original release. With the addition of the high voltage models, the SLx Series now spans 5 Vdc to 3000 Vdc and up to 250 Adc across 171 models and over 60,000 configurations. Output isolation on all SLx Series models is standard, enabling safe, floating operation at the full rated voltage.
Target applications for the new high voltage models include double pulse testing for SiC and GaN wide bandgap semiconductors, high voltage power converter testing, capacitor charging and forming, high voltage DC cable testing, and power delivery for tethered vehicles including ROVs.
The SLx Series is built on Magna-Power's current-fed power processing topology using SiC power devices, providing inherent fault current limiting and surge immunity. The xGen MagnaLINK distributed DSP digital control architecture delivers 16-bit programming resolution across voltage, current, and power with programmable slew rates on all three parameters. Line regulation is ±0.04% for voltage, and 8-hour voltage stability is rated at ±0.005% (100 ppm) at 25 degrees C.
Every SLx Series model includes dual USB ports (front and rear), RS485, SCPI and Modbus command sets with over 60 documented commands, and a 26-pin D-Sub connector providing eight digital outputs, four digital inputs, four analog outputs, four analog inputs, and a dedicated high-speed 2 kHz analog input. Optional industrial communication protocols include EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, CANopen, LXI TCP/IP Ethernet, and Modbus-TCP, each with full command set support and device description files. MagnaCTRL software is included standard, with LabVIEW and IVI drivers available.
Up to 16 SLx Series units can be connected in parallel through Magna-Power's digital-hybrid master-slaving architecture using dual MagnaLINK communication ports, enabling a single setpoint to control synchronized output and protections across all units. The SLx Series also supports hardware emergency stop, programmable over-voltage, over-current, and over-power trips, and a rear-mounted LED diagnostic matrix for field troubleshooting without opening the enclosure.
The high voltage models are available with the full range of SLx Series options, including the +WC sealed water cooling enclosure for ventless operation, the +RUG ruggedized option tested to select MIL-STD-810G and RTCA DO-160 shock and vibration specifications, and the +FP1 blank front panel for dedicated system integration. All models are available three-phase AC input from 208 Vac to 480 Vac, 50-60 Hz, and the 1.5 kW and 2.6 kW models are also available with single-phase active PFC input. The SLx Series is CE, UKCA and RCM marked, RoHS and REACH compliant, and certified to EN61010-1.
The new high voltage SLx Series models are designed and manufactured at Magna-Power's 73,500 sq-ft vertically integrated facility in Flemington, NJ, where every unit is fully tested, calibrated, and burned in before shipment. The models are available now with build times of 4-6 weeks, direct from Magna-Power or through the company's distribution network in over 40 countries.
