Industrial Water Cooled Option Released for DC Power Supplies
Magna-Power Electronics, Inc., a worldwide leader in innovative, high-performance DC power supplies, introduced water-cooling to its PQ Series III and TS Series II product line. These new water-cooled power supplies range from 3.3 to 45kW with available voltage ratings from 5 to 1000 Vdc, current ratings from 3 to 2700 Adc, and operation from 50 to 400 Hz.
Conventional fans were replaced with integrated semiconductor chillers and air to water heat exchangers to manage cooling of heat producing components. This feature allows the power supply to be sealed from the environment, enabling placement in wet, sandy, corrosive, or other harsh conditions. These power supplies are designed to provide reliable, long-term, controlled operation. Water cooling permits the power supplies to be stacked in high density equipment racks where air cooling is not possible or desirable. Immediate demand comes from plating facilities, electrodionization treatment plants, shipboard, and military applications.
The power supplies, among the highest power density in the industry with heights from 5 ¼ to 15 ¾ inches high, are all rack-mount with the ability to be remotely computer controlled. Water-cooled units are now in production with delivery time from 4 to 6 weeks.
